The link above will show you a TMZ article where some of my fellow exchange students found Charlie Sheen in Paris.

This is something that truly makes exchange the magical thing it is.

The most exhange student thing to ever exist

For all of those who have not had a Kinder Bueno, it is happiness in solid form. However, this little treat right here is the most multicultural thing ever. Kinder is German for child. Bueno is good, in Italian. It gets better. Here in Belgium the wrapper is written in English, French, and Dutch. But it goes deeper. It also has numbers on it. The number system that we use actually originated in the Arabic culture.
overview:
- Arab
- Dutch
- English
- French
-German
awh!

Carnival

For all of you that do not already know. Carnival is soon which means only one thing here in Belgium. Yet another month were we will get a minimum of two weeks off school, because they love us. In Belgium there are so many holidays that the literal translations actually sound made up, and I have trouble believing my friends when they tell me that we just dont have school for several days.

when ever I have troubles with my french(Belgian french)

Before arriving here in Belgium I had learned a little bit of French back in Canada. However I learned Quebecois french. Which is completely useless here, and I find myself in situations where everyone is speaking in French and no one understands each other. When ever that happens I always think of this.

The traditional Belgian Breakfast

Yesterday my Host family had a little dinner party for me, Manolo (Mexican exchange student that was living at the house before me), and Victoria (also Mexican exchange student), and their host families. Manolo spent the night and in the morning we made breakfast...exchange student style. For all of those who are unaware, exchange students like chocolate, like a lot. Breakfast started off with a bowl of Kellogg's Chocos.
the only cereal available that leaves a small pool of liquid chocolate at the bottom of the bowl.

Following this we had a Nutella sandwich, which exactly what sounds like. Nutella and maybe a slice of bread. Keeping with the theme of Nutella, Manolo decided to make some hot chocolate...by hot chocolate he obviously meant milk with Nutella, heated in the microwave. What could go wrong. well it went everywhere, now the mom doesn't trust me with the microwave.

New Year's Eve in Brussels

This will be the first blog post for me of 2014. So i will start it off with what i did on New Year's eve. Through out the years, exchange students have made a tradition of going to Brussels to celebrate the new year. 2014 was no exception. As a Canadian raise boy, we usually spend our New Year's watching Canada play the USA in world juniors. But this year was a little different. We arrived at the gare(station) to a sea of people. We moved around Brussels for a bit in the sea of people. When i say a sea of people, it was literally a sea of people. When we finally got to the grand plase to see the fireworks we were in the center of a kilometer thick mob. Then people started to throw fireworks into the crowd. Got to love the Belgian mind set, "its really busy, hand me that roman candle". The legitimate fire work show put on by the Brussels city facilities was like daytime at midnight. For several hours the sky was fully illuminated with just about every colour in the spectrum. After that we went for Durham. I am not exactly sure what kind of meat is in a Durham but it is scrumptious, and that is all that really matters at the end of the day. The moral of this story is that I really want a Durham right now.
